Trace McSorley threw his first career touchdown pass, as the former Penn State Football QB came on in relief of Ravens QB Robert Griffin III vs. the Steelers
Former Penn State Football quarterback Trace McSorley came on in relief of Baltimore Ravens quarterback Robert Griffin III in Wednesday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and made the most of his opportunity.
With 2:58 remaining, and the Ravens trailing the Steelers 19-7, McSorley hit Hollywood Brown for a 70-yard touchdown, the first touchdown pass of McSorley’s career.
McSorley finished 2-of-6 passing for 77 yards and a touchdown, in the Ravens’ 19-14 loss at Heinz Field.
Wednesday was McSorley’s first appearance of the 2020 season, after playing one game in 2019 as a rookie.
McSorley is the leading passer in Penn State Football history, finishing his four-year career with 9,899 yards with 77 touchdowns and 77 interceptions while producing a 144.5 passer rating.
During McSorley’s time in Happy Valley, the quarterback gained the respect of his teammates as one of the Nittany Lions’ consummate leaders and inspired fans with his gritty style of play both as a passer and a runner.
Penn State made consecutive trips to New Years Six Bowl games with McSorley behind center, falling to USC in the Rose Bowl following the Nittany Lions’ 2016 Big Ten Championship, and winning the Fiesta Bowl over Washington the following season.
