Penn State football looks to win seventh straight vs. Iowa Hawkeyes

Recent History

Since that Iowa run from 2000 through 2010, the Nittany Lions have been the class of this rivalry, putting together the longest win streak this rivalry has seen. Penn State has won six straight heading into the matchup inside Beaver Stadium Saturday, but these are two teams who are trending in different directions.

Since the 24-3 loss in 2010, Penn State has gone on a nice run, but despite winning the first three games of the win streak by over ten points, the last three have been classic battles between these two programs. Last season, Iowa was the No. 17 ranked team in the country when No. 10 Penn State invaded Kinnick Stadium, but after a Noah Cain touchdown run put the Nittany Lions up 17-6, the Hawkeyes were unable to come all the way back.

If there was ever a time for Iowa to break the recent trend it would be this weekend, as they get a underachieving Penn State team on the road.

Iowa has been on fire during their last two games, dismantling both Michigan State and Minnesota, while outscoring them by a 84-14 margin. They will look to continue their good fortunes against Penn State, but this team has to be hungry for a victory, and despite being an underdog at home, I believe they pull out the victory Saturday.
