3 Maryland Terrapins the Penn State Nittany Lions should worry about

Running Back Jake Funk

Last weekend, Jake Funk was a major reason why the Maryland Terrapins came all the way back against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Not only did Funk rush for 221 yards in the contest, but he also scored the game-tying touchdown to send the game into overtime, scoring from 19 yards out with under four minutes left to go.

Funk, who has had to battle from injuries during his collegiate career, also averaged 10.5 yards per carry against Minnesota, with his average, and total yardage being the 11th most in team history in a single game. A three-time All-Academic Big Ten selection, Funk appears fully healthy from his torn ACL last season, and Penn State needs to account for where he is on every play he is in the lineup.

dark. Next. Defensive Report Card Through 2 Weeks

Penn State should leave Beaver Stadium with a win on Saturday, but as we saw in Week 1 against Indiana, anything can happen in this crazy, COVID-19 shortened season. Funk was able to do whatever he wanted against Minnesota last weekend, and Penn State needs to have stopping him as a top priority in this one.
