Penn State Football will start freshman WR KeAndre Lambert-Smith opposite Jahan Dotson vs. Maryland

Penn State Football wide receiver Jahan Dotson became an instant household name after a pair of one-handed catches against Ohio State Saturday night, including a touchdown that will go down as one of the catches of the year in college football, but the Nittany Lions will debut a new-look receiving corps against Maryland.

Saturday, Penn State Football will start freshman KeAndre Lambert-Smith opposite Dotson, instantly upgrading the athleticism of the Nittany Lions’ receiving corps.

"“KeAndre is a guy who we saw do some really good things during camp,” Penn State head coach James Franklin told reporters during his weekly press conference. “We do think KeAndre has a very bright future. He has tremendous quickness and skills.”"

Lambert-Smith joins fellow Freshman Parker Washington in the Nittany Lions’ starting receiving corps. Inserting Lambert-Smith and Washington into the starting lineup is a prudent move by head coach James Franklin and offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca, to get young players likely to play vital roles to Penn State’s prospects in 2021 some meaningful playing time over the final eight weeks of this season.

A former four-star recruit, Lambert-Smith enters Saturday’s clash with Maryland averaging 10.8 yards per reception, with four catches for 43 yards.

The Nittany Lions host Maryland on Saturday afternoon at 3:30.
