Penn State Football added another significant piece to the 2022 recruiting class as 4-star WR Anthony Ivey pledged to the Nittany Lions Thursday

Penn State Football has added another member to their 2022 recruiting class.

Four star wide receiver Anthony Ivey announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions on Thursday night. He is ranked as the eighth best player in the state of Pennsylvania, and 174th in the nation.

Ivey, from Lancaster, Pa, is the seventh member of the 2022 class. He plays at Maheim Township High School. With the addition of Ivey, Penn State’s ’22 class moves up to second nationally, slightly ahead of Ohio State.

He holds 12 offers and did have a top three of Penn State, West Virginia and Arizona State. He initially planned to commit in November, but backed off due to a lack of visits. The fact that he committed before that November time frame, and not after it, is surprising.

Ivey is part of the future of Penn State’s receiver group, which is starting to look promising. Between freshmen Parker Washington and Keandre Lambert-Smith, 2021 commits Liam Clifford and Lonnie White Jr., 2022 commit Kaden Saunders and now Ivey, they have the talent coming.

Being an in-state commit is also big for James Franklin and his staff as they fight to retake recruiting in Pennsylvania. Ivey is good friends with fellow ’22 commit Beau Pribula. This could be the future of Penn State’s offense, with Pribula slinging passes to Ivey.

With two receivers in the fold, Penn State will focus on Mehki Flowers, Darrius Clemons and Andre Greene Jr. to round out this talented group. The last time all of Penn State’s wide receiver commits were 4 stars or better was 2018, that looks very likely to happen again in 2022.

So far so good for first year receivers coach Taylor Stubblefield on the recruiting trail. He should be excited about what he has to work with for the next few years, as should Penn State fans.
