6 reasons the Penn State Nittany Lions beat Indiana

Nittany Lions secondary

Indiana comes into this game with an absolute weapon at quarterback in Michael Penix Jr., a versatile signal-caller who can get the job done with his arm, and his legs. Penix has the luxury of throwing to wide receiver Whop Philyor, and explosive player who racked up over 1,000 yards through the air last season.

Penix is widely regarded as one of the better quarterbacks in the Big Ten, and he is going to have his moments against Penn State. However, the Nittany Lions counter with a very experienced, and very talented defensive backfield, which could neutralize what the Hoosiers like to do on offense.

Joey Porter Jr. is a redshirt freshman who has an incredible pedigree, as he is the son of four-time Pro Bowl linebacker, Joey Porter. He will play a key role in a defensive backfield that returns three seniors, as cornerback Tariq Castro-Fields, and safeties Jaquan Brisker and Lamont Wade will once again patrol the secondary for Penn State.

This group has the talent, and experience to be special, and based on the quarterback talent in the Big Ten, Penn State needs all four of them to excel. Penix is a special talent, but Penn State has enough talent of their own in this secondary to give him problems in this one.
