Penn State Football has several players who must step up if the Nittany Lions are to avoid a season-opening upset against Indiana, including RB Noah Cain and DB Lamont Wade

This could be one of Indiana’s most talented teams in school history. Coming off an impressive 8-4 season, the one thing missing is that signature victory. Saturday’s contest with 8th ranked Penn State Football provides them that opportunity.

Let’s take a look at 5 players that need to step up and play well for the Nittany Lions to leave Bloomington with a season-opening victory:

DL Antonio Shelton, P.J. Mustipher

Indiana returns eight starters on offense, however are green at both interior offensive line positions.

The Hoosiers will be starting two new starting offensive guards, so look for defensive tackles Antonio Shelton and PJ Mustipher to have a big day.

If the combo of Shelton and Mustipher can limit Hoosier’s running back Stevie Scott on the ground, while providing an interior pass rush on QB Michael Pennix, this young defense could take advantage of some 3rd down and long situations.

Mustipher, junior, is a candidate to be one of Penn State Football’s breakout stars this season, after piling up 4.5 tackles-for loss and one sack a year ago.
