Hakeem Beamon (Defensive Tackle)

Penn State has their two defensive tackle starters in veterans Antonio Shelton and P.J. Mustipher, but second team reps are up for grabs.

Penn State has historically rotated defensive linemen under James Franklin, so second team is just important as first. One guy who could break into that second group is redshirt freshman Hakeem Beamon.

A 4-star from the 2019 class, Beamon is listed at 6’3 274 and appeared in three games last season, making two tackles. He was originally recruited as a defensive end, and has the quickness of one.

Beamon is an ideal 3-tech defensive tackle, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him start in 2021, but he should make some noise this year as well.
