College Football Playoff projection:

Back in 2016, the College Football Playoff committee took a one-loss Ohio State over a two-loss Big Ten Champion Penn State that had beaten the Buckeyes during the regular season. This year has a chance to be very different.

Given the chaos that we have already witnessed in the SEC, and the Big 12’s monumental struggles through the first four weeks, there’s a chance that both the Nittany Lions and Buckeyes open their regular seasons ranked in the top-five.

If Penn State wins the Big Ten championship with its only loss coming to Michigan, who loses to Ohio State, the combination of the Big Ten East’s strength, these two programs’ resumes, and the parity across the country could lead to the B1G having two representatives in the Playoff.

Here are our preseason College Football Playoff projections:

1) Alabama

2) Clemson

3) Penn State

4) Ohio State
