Former Penn State football running back Miles Sanders took a gratuitous shot at Pitt prior to the Eagles’ clash with the Steelers in Week 5 of the NFL season

Miles Sanders hails from the city of Pittsburgh, but he proved Friday that he will always be a Nittany Lion.

The Penn State football alum, preparing for the Philadelphia Eagles’ showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday in Week 5 of the NFL season, was asked about his favorite memory of playing in Heinz Field. Sanders delivered one last shot at the University of Pittsburgh, who lost out to Penn State during his recruitment as the nation’s No. 1 running back prospect back in 2016.

“Beating Pittsburgh,” Sanders told reporters, via NJ Advance Media’s Mike Kaye. “51-6, that’s all I got to say.”

Sanders ran roughshod over Pitt back in 2018, on a rain soaked evening, accounting for 118 yards on 16 carries.

That season was Sanders’ first as the Nittany Lions’ lead tailback, emerging from the shadow of 2018 No. 2 overall NFL Draft pick Saquon Barkley. Sanders rushed for 1,274 yards and nine touchdowns that season, averaging 5.8 yards per carry, while adding 24 receptions for 139 yards.

Sanders was chosen by the Eagles in the second-round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and looks to help lead the Eagles to their second victory of the season when they take on the Steelers Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m.
