Bryce Mostella committed to Penn State over several other Big Ten rivals, as a big commitment, literally, for Penn State.

Entering the Penn State defensive line rotation, Bryce Mostella is a big, bad man for his age. He stands at 6-foot-7 and 235 pounds with an incredible get off at the line of scrimmage. He garnered a three-star rating from 247Sports in the process.

Mostella had at least 20 scholarship offers to schools around the country including Big Ten rivals Iowa, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State and in-state rival Pittsburgh to name a few. He also received a three-star rating from Rivals as the big man from East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Michigan will ultimately hope to present a big challenge for tackles in front of him.

Good thing for Mostella at his current size, there’s a lot of room left on his frame to fill out with muscle and that’s certainly what a winter in Happy Valley will do for him as an early enrollee. 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu echoed those statements:

"Very tall with long limbs. Still has a lot of room on his frame. Carries his weight so well that even at 230+ pounds, he looks almost thin and will easily be able to carry a lot more weight in college."

Trieu continued to praise Mostella for his size but added that it’d certainly imperative for him to bulk up and continue the efforts that made him a highly-coveted athlete:

"A very flexible and fluid athlete. Bends well, has explosive qualities in the weight room and has gotten stronger. Gives good effort on the field. Chases down plays and covers a lot of ground with long strides. Has to still translate some of the explosiveness we have seen in the weight room to the field. Currently a good football player with the tools to become a great football player as he continues to fill into his frame and improve technique."

Also helping Mostella out is his football pedigree as his father Marcellus Mostella was an All-SEC linebacker for Auburn in the early 90s. His father later played in the Arena Football League as well.

Bryce Mostella committed to Penn State back in July of 2019 and didn’t waver, visiting Happy Valley twice after his commitment before ultimately enrolling in January. He’s certainly one of the most intriguing commitments of the entire 2020 recruiting cycle after his incredibly unique commitment video went viral last summer.

He’ll be a part of the long-term plans at the position and if one thing is for sure: we’ll be watching him as closely on the field as we will off the field.

Welcome to Happy Valley, Bryce!
