Quarterbacks

With Sean Clifford out due to the knee injury he sustained in the Ohio State game, Will Levis got his first career college start. Levis struggled to throw the football but dominated on the ground.

Levis completed eight of his 14 passes for 81 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. That touchdown was a 44-yard pass to Jahan Dotson in the fourth quarter. Despite only throwing for 81 yards, Will Levis led all rushers with 108 yards on 17 carries.

Dating back to last week at Ohio State, Penn State has had a ton of success running the option with the 6’3,” 229 lbs. Levis. This had led to speculation that Will Levis could be Penn State’s next “Lion,” the position that Tommy Stevens played at Penn State.

Don’t be surprised if Levis does play that role going forward, and don’t be surprised if you see Levis at some point in the bowl game.

At the end of the game, third-string quarterback Taquan Roberson entered the game for his first action as a Nittany Lion. Roberson’s single pass fell incomplete, and one rush went for a loss of a yard.
