Penn State football breaks a two-year losing streak against Michigan State with a win over the Spartans on the road.

Another week, another Penn State football victory over a Michigan-based University. Just last week, the Nittany Lions hosted the Michigan Wolverines for their almighty white-out matchup at Beaver Stadium. From the gate, the Lions dominated, but almost let Michigan climb back.

Fortunately, the Lions remained strong and squeaked out a win for their Week 8 battle against the Wolverines. This week, the Lions hit the road for the third time this season. This time, it was against the Michigan State Spartans, and it was at Spartan Stadium.

Heading into Saturday afternoon’s matchup, we expected the weather to be a factor. As East Lansing was calling for a windy and rainy matchup, we immediately knew that poor conditions could typically make it anybody’s game on any given Saturday.

Well, Penn State, the consensus favorites wouldn’t allow the weather to change the narrative this time around. The Nittany Lions came out handling the Spartans with ease. On both sides of the ball, Penn State did a stellar job. Their defense ended up holding Michigan State to zero points in the first half, while the offense went into halftime with 13 points.

When the second half rolled around, not much would change. The Spartans ended up only accounting for seven total points on offense, while Penn State capitalized on their opponent’s mistakes. Although PSU’s offense once again stalled out after notching 28 points, their defense still kept the Spartans in check by not allowing them to come back.

With that win, Penn State now heads into their second bye week of the year, surprisingly remaining unbeaten with an 8-0 record. They came into this week as the sixth-best team in the nation. Considering there was a critical loss to Oklahoma, who ranked ahead of the Lions before kickoff, Penn State is bound to move up this week after they notched win number eight on the year.
