FTW makes prediction in favor of Penn State football this week
USA Today’s For The Win recently made quite a favorable prediction in favor of Penn State football for this week.
It’s week nine in College Football, and not too many teams remain unbeaten at this point. Within the Top-25, we are narrowed down to ten teams without a blemish on their record. And to the surprise of many, Penn State football just so happens to be one of them.
Considering that Penn State is a young team, with some significant inexperience on board, many believed the Nittany Lions would probably hit a roadblock at some point during the season.
While nobody thought it would be right away since the schedule started out easy — they probably thought the matchup from two weeks ago against Iowa on the road would’ve done them in.
However, that wasn’t the case. Penn State marched on over to Kinnick Stadium and played a hard-fought game notching their second win on the road for the season.
Then, they took their talents back home for a prime time matchup at Beaver Stadium and knocked off Michigan, issuing the Wolverines their second loss of the season. Now, Penn State travels to East Lansing this weekend for a matchup against Michigan State.
While Penn State just knocked off the tougher Michigan team, that doesn’t necessarily make the Spartans matchup a walk in the park. USA Today’s For The Win site recently made predictions regarding the remaining undefeated teams in college football. The piece basically projected which teams will remain undefeated beyond Week 9 — and which will not.
The Penn State Prediction
For the last few weeks, we’ve witnessed Penn State on ‘upset alert’ to multiple publications across the board. With For The Win, though, they have faith in State. Michelle Martinelli wrote about this week’s matchup for the Lions, and she’s not willing to make a prediction based on recent history. Martinelli believes the Nittany Lions will remain unbeaten.
"“Have you seen the Spartans with the football this season? They’re not great. It doesn’t really matter Michigan State won the last two years against Penn State either because the Nittany Lions are good, Michigan State’s offense is not and the Spartans’ defense isn’t quite holding down the fort the way it was expected to.”"
Oh, and as for Ohio State, Martinelli predicts they take their first loss this weekend as well! As the Buckeyes take on a tough Wisconsin team, Martinelli predicts that Ohio State’s high-powered offense will get stunned by the Badger defense since the Buckeyes have sort of had it easy this season playing against inferior defenses. This scenario would be ideal, as it would set PSU up as the top dogs in the Big Ten — we’ll see if it indeed happens.
