After a tough Week 7 win over Iowa on the road, Penn State football sees a nice jump on the AP Top 25 Poll.

Every week for the last few games, Penn State football has been offered up a tougher new challenge. And so far, they have passed their tests with flying colors at this point. It hasn’t been completely easy, but the Nittany Lions will take a win however they can get it.

This past weekend, Penn State was issued a tough test on the road. For their second away game of the season, they took a trip to Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City for what became their toughest matchup easily to date, considering that Iowa had a Top 25 rank as well.

As the No. 17 team in the nation, Iowa had many hesitant to think that Penn State could win, considering James Franklin’s inability to defeat ranked teams on the road during his stint as the Penn State Nittany Lions head coach.

However, Coach Franklin killed the narrative on Saturday. Penn State went in as favorites and came out as winners as they defeated the Hawkeyes, 17-12 in a robust primetime matchup. Now, Penn State advances to 6-0 on the year, issuing Iowa their second loss of the season.

A nice bump in the rankings

Last week, we made it clear that with another win keeping a flawless record, Penn State was sure to move up in the top ten, as other teams right behind them had blemishes on their record. Sure enough, that ended up happening.

After the win over Iowa, Penn State moved up three spots on the AP Top 25 Poll. They are the third top-ten ranked team to represent the Big Ten. Unbeaten Wisconsin remains right in front of Penn State at No. 6. Meanwhile, Ohio State is playoff relevant as they are No. 4 after this week.

This week, Penn State will move on to once again, what becomes their biggest test of the year. They will face off against Michigan, except for this week their game will be back at home in Beaver Stadium, where the white-out will ensue. We’ll see if Penn State can go 7-0.
