Penn State Football: Grading Nittany Lions’ performance vs. Purdue
By Dylan Burd
The Penn State offensive line had an above-average performance overall. In the running game, the Nittany Lions had 46 carries for 196 yards, which is 4.3 yards per carry, a pretty decent number.
In terms of protecting Sean Clifford, Purdue had only one sack, which is a positive, but they did have three QB hurries. Clifford seemed to be under duress a bit more in the second and third quarters of this game compared to the first quarter. The offensive line only had one penalty, an offensive holding, which is a positive as well.
Just as the rest of the team, Penn State’s offensive line will be put to the test next week, as Iowa’s front seven is among the best in the country. Iowa ranks 11th in the country in rushing yards allowed per game, with 85.6. However, Iowa doesn’t frequently get to the quarterback, as they only have seven sacks on the season, ranking outside the top-100 in the nation.
