Penn State football wide receiver KJ Hamler reached out to injured wideout, Rondale Moore, after finding out he won’t play this weekend.

This season has been filled with bad luck for Penn State football’s Week 6 opponent, Purdue. Just last week, their injury-riddled team suffered two of the most significant losses in their tight defeat against Minnesota. Not only did their starting quarterback, Elijah Sindelar get injured, but so did their star, All-American wide receiver, Rondale Moore.

After further evaluations, both players will miss the Saturday matchup at Beaver Stadium, which is wildly unfortunate. Sindelar was diagnosed with a broken collarbone and will miss multiple weeks. Moore’s leg injury was pretty serious, but apparently, he won’t miss the remainder of the season as that was initially assumed.

The mishaps for Purdue this weekend don’t necessarily ensure a victory for Penn State, but it definitely helps them out a lot. However, the Nittany Lions aren’t pleased. They knew they were the better team heading into this one, and they wished they were playing a team with all hands on deck. Plus, at the end of the day, nobody wants to see fellow players get hurt.

That’s precisely why Penn State star wide receiver KJ Hamler reached out to Rondale Moore earlier this week to let the Purdue wideout know that he’s thinking about him as he goes through a difficult time, dealing with a lower-body injury.

“I just told him that I’m praying for him because outside of the game, we’re all family,” Hamler said, according to StateCollege.com. “Me and him, we don’t have a close bond, but there is a friendship outside of football. I am disappointed; I wish he would play; it probably would have been the battle of the slots or something. I hope he’s doing well, and I’m praying for him.”

Hamler embraces competition and would’ve loved to compete in a battle of numbers with another highly-talented wideout. Unfortunately, that won’t get to happen on Saturday now because of the injury. Purdue and even Penn State are disappointed, but injuries are bound to happen, so it’s understandable. Hopefully, Moore will be back on the field sooner than later.
