A. . . . RUNNING BACKS

All four running backs saw work in this game once again and continued to make it harder and harder for the coaching staff to pick two or three to roll with for the rest of the season.

Devyn Ford, who was the last running back to enter the game, led all running backs with 43 rushing yards on seven carries. He also had a reception for 15 yards.

Ricky Slade had a nice game as he ran for 28 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. He also had three receptions for 22 yards. It’s becoming clear that Ricky Slade is becoming a nice pass-catching weapon out of the backfield for the Nittany Lions and will continue to be used that way even though he isn’t starting like many expected.

Journey Brown, who’s been Penn State’s best running back throughout the first four games, had five carries for 21 yards a touchdown. He also had two receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown. Brown seems to have a knack for having one long reception per game.

Noah Cain also had seven carries for 17 yards to go along with a nine-yard reception. This was the first game that Cain hasn’t scored in all season.

The running backs not only performed well on the field, but their “Lawn Boyz” chain got some national attention as well after Journey Brown was wearing it on the sidelines. In my opinion, it’s a pretty special nickname for a special group of backs.
