Two former Penn State football players Nick Scott and Chris Godwin met on the field this weekend for a PSU showdown in the NFL.

It’s been quite the week for former Penn State football players, who are now in the NFL. After there were some struggles with PSU alumni in the NFL last week with an injury occurring to Saquon Barkley, we were hopeful that something positive would happen during week four.

This past weekend, many might’ve had their eyes on multiple matchups, but the one out on the West Coast had two former Nittany Lions battling it out on the field at the same time. Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin had the opportunity to go against safety Nick Scott and the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams were the favorites going into that game, but the Buccaneers have been shockingly decent lately. And they can thank the former Penn Stater, Godwin for helping out a lot with that. Godwin might’ve been off to a somewhat slow start in his career, but he’s become a reliable contributor, and a borderline star for the Bucs in 2019 so far.

On Sunday, Godwin caught 12 of his 14 targeted passes, totaling for 172 yards and two total touchdowns. He was instrumental in the Buccaneers success this past weekend as they stunned the former NFC Champions on the road. Godwin was a big-time enemy for the Rams secondary on Sunday, but after the game, he met up with an old friend of his and swapped jerseys.

Two former Lions swapping jerseys

Godwin has been in the NFL for a few years now, while Scott is still a rookie. However, the two had the opportunity to play together at Penn State during the 2015 and 2016 seasons. While they both had significant roles for the Lions, their NFL careers are on two different paths right now.

Next. Penn State will face Purdue’s backup quarterback this week. dark

Godwin is an up and coming star, while Scott is still very early on in his development at the pro level. He has yet to see the field on defense this season, but he is a role player on special teams for the Rams. We’re sure that will eventually change when Scott betters his game with NFL level training, but for now, the young rookie is just doing all he can just to see the field on Sunday’s.
