Penn State football will take on their first Big Ten opponent on Friday as they pay Maryland a visit under the lights.

The fun and games are over for Penn State football. The first weeks were somewhat smooth — somewhat intense — but conference play is now in the mix. For the first time this season, the Nittany Lions will go against a fellow Big Ten opponent.

And for the first time this year, Penn State will face a team on the road. It’s not the most ideal situation playing a Big Ten team for your first road game, but the Nittany Lions shouldn’t really have any issues in this one as they are the better team.

There are just a few things the Lions have to patch up this week in order to win. In hindsight, Penn State had their struggles early on against Buffalo, and throughout four quarters against Pitt. But at the end of the day, they came out victorious as they defeated adversity.

With a week off from playing a game, the team had the opportunity to regroup and get back to the basics. Knowing what they are good at, and what they have struggled with, Penn State was able to use the information they found out about themselves in the first three weeks and patch up some of the holes created in their gameplan.

Now, they will get put to the test once again as they head into a hostile environment in College Park, Maryland. With their second night game of the year, which five key Penn State players are going to have to step up in prime time and help lead the team to victory?
