Three-star offensive guard RJ Adams officially confirms that he is no longer committed to Penn State football.

You can’t win them all when it comes to college football recruiting. Each program issues tons of offers during their recruiting process, but not everybody is going to accept. And sometimes when they do seem to agree with a verbal commitment, it must be taken with a grain of salt.

Penn State football found that out this past summer as they suffered their fair share of losses with commits this offseason. For a brief moment, Penn State had multiple prospects pulling away from their commitments before new ones were coming in. That called for some concern, as James Franklin received tons of criticism from the Nittany Lions’ fan base.

However, the program bounced back as they are on a quest to land at least 30 commitments by signing day. Penn State is getting there quickly, but recently, they took a loss as well. Suddenly, three-star offensive guard RJ Adams decided to pull back from his word. Typically, prospects tend to announce their decommitment to allow everybody to know they are seeking new options.

But Adams didn’t make his decision public. As a matter of fact, it took a couple of days before the word got out that the 2020 Woodbridge, Virginia prospect pulled back from his commitment. “I’m not committed anymore,” Adams told Lions247’s, Brian Dohn.

The six-foot-three, 315-pound lineman, didn’t go into details about what might’ve gone wrong during the process — but by the sounds of it, Adams surely won’t be back at Penn State as he didn’t even mention the possibility of adding them back into the mix as he opened his recruitment back up just last week.

No loss on the recruiting trail is ever really a positive one, but at least Penn State is still in good shape for their class as it ranks in the Top-15 with 25 hard commits. The class also includes two offensive guards already as well in Nick Dawkins and Golden Israel-Achumba.
