Penn State football makes the cut for four-star Maryland-based linebacker, Greg Penn III.

It’s been a busy week for Penn State football. Despite not having an actual game on the schedule for this past weekend, James Franklin and his coaching staff decided to use their time wisely. Rather than treating the bye week as a vacation, they traveled as much as possible in order to buckle down on their 2020 recruiting class.

In a way, they went on a quick tour. Franklin was rumored to be in numerous places in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and even Canada checking out some potential prospects along with committed players already.

In other words, Franklin does an excellent job of making players feel wanted. And that hard work he commits to doing does not go unnoticed from the prospects. The Nittany Lions might not land every high-end prospect they offer — but they seem to always be in the mix for their commitment.

Recently, another significant prospect made an announcement, narrowing down his school decisions for the future. Maryland-based linebacker Greg Penn III is a 2021 recruit, so he’s still got plenty of time left to decide as he has a senior year ahead of him for next season.

However, like many recruits, Penn doesn’t seem hesitant to start weeding out the schools he knows he doesn’t want for sure. Therefore, he announced his top ten selections on Sunday night. And to no surprise, the Penn State Nittany Lions made the cut.

Along with nine other schools, Penn State remains in the mix early for the DeMatha Catholic product. As you can see, the competition for his commitment is quite stiff. Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, Ohio State, South Carolina, Texas A&M,  Kentucky, LSU, and Maryland have all survived first cuts for the nation’s sixth-ranked linebacker for the 2021 class. The quest for the commitment is just getting started, but Penn State seems to be in good shape thus far.
