Penn State football increases their stock in the AP Top-25 Poll after a week off.

What’s better than a week off? Many things going right for a team during a bye week for sure. Penn State football didn’t have to play in a game this weekend, but they still moved up in the AP Top-25 poll. So in all reality, they are winners during the bye week, which doesn’t happen often.

We had the opportunity to relax this weekend, carefree while watching some other games unfold. For the Big Ten, there was a pretty significant conference game between to ranked teams. On one side, there was Michigan football, who was viewed as a top ten program.

On the other side, there was Wisconsin, who was tied up with the Nittany Lions heading into Week 4 as the AP Poll had the Badgers and the Lions at No. 13. Although it was believed that Wisconsin had an excellent chance to take down the Wolverines, they came away with the win a lot easier than expected as the Badgers took Michigan down 35-14.

For that, Wisconsin moved up in the polls and are now viewed as the No. 8 team in the nation as they remain undefeated. As for Michigan, they tumble in the rankings moving all the way down to No. 20. Penn State, who didn’t play this week jumps up one spot to No. 12.

Aside from the drastic changes within the Big Ten, everything else pretty much went as according to plan. Ohio State dominated their opponent, Miami OH by a ridiculous margin. For that, they remain a top-five program and are still in the playoff conversation early on.

This week, the off days are done now. Penn State will take a trip to play Maryland in what looks to be a favorable matchup now. After Maryland’s loss to Temple last week, the matchup plainly puts Penn State in favor. Hopefully, the Nittany Lions have been working on eliminating those mistakes from the Pitt matchup though. If they can clean up the sloppy play, they should be in good shape to advance to 4-0 on the year.
