Penn State football loses 3-Star OL commit R.J. Adams
Penn State football recently lost another 2020 prospect in R.J. Adams.
Another day, another commitment falls through for the Penn State football program. It was a rough past summer, filled with a handful of players taking a step back away from the Nittany Lions after initially committing. And unfortunately, it all seemed to have happened at once.
Offensive lineman Grant Toutant started the trend as he decided to flip his commitment into something else. After a visit to the Ohio State Buckeyes’ campus, Toutant decided that he was initially committed to the wrong University. Therefore, he decommitted from Penn State.
A few days later, another 2020 offensive lineman prospect did the same, except for he didn’t know where he was going to end up. This time, it was four-star offensive guard, Aaryn Parks. To this day, Parks still hasn’t committed elsewhere and keeps PSU in the picture. But he couldn’t guarantee that he would be back in Happy Valley come next season.
Then, the following two prospects happened to be defenders. One was four-star cornerback Joshua Moten and the other was a four-star linebacker, Derek Wingo. Those two decommitted without any shot of coming back to Penn State. After those four, it felt like the trend of decommits was over for the time being. And it was — until now, of course.
Add another one to the list
As Penn State has been relatively successful with adding prospects to their 2020 class as of late, there hasn’t been much negative going on with the recruiting process. However, Penn State recently received its first decommitment since June this week.
Woodbridge, Virginia three-star offensive guard R.J. Adams recently decided to pull his commitment from Penn State. The 15th ranked offensive guard in the country initially made his decision back in April, but since then hasn’t felt the same way about Penn State.
Last week, Adams was in Happy Valley and in attendance for the game against Buffalo. The following week, he took on an official visit to Kentucky. Three days later, he pulled his promise from PSU. Clearly, one visit did not go like the other.
And Kentucky either left an excellent impression — or Penn State wasn’t all that impressive for him on game night. Regardless of what his thoughts may be, Adams seems to be out of the picture for the 2020 recruiting class.
