Penn State Football: Grading the Nittany Lions’ performance vs. Pitt

Jordan Stout. Is there anything else left to say? Can you believe that Virginia Tech couldn’t find a scholarship to give this kid?
Stout’s 57-yard field goal to close out the first half was the longest in Penn State history. Also, Stout still has yet to allow a kickoff return this season as he has a touchback rate of 100-percent.
The value of a player like Jordan Stout can’t be overlooked. All Penn State needs to do on offensive possessions to give themselves a chance to score points is to make sure they get to the opponent’s 39-yard line. That’s something that they haven’t had in years.
In addition, the special teams only allowed two punt returns for a combined eight yards. There’s no doubt the special teams has been a bright spot this season. Big special teams plays often shift the momentum of games, so having a dominant special teams unit is huge, especially with such a young team.
