2. Journey Brown, RB

While we’re at it, we might as well talk about another rusher too in Journey Brown. It’s only been two weeks, but right now Journey Brown looks to be more effective than Slade. As Slade continues not only to struggle but make mistakes as well, Brown continues to reap the benefits.

By no means would we like to see Slade get left behind and lose his footing as a critical component in this committee, but right now Brown just looks like the better running back. And if that’s the case, the Nittany Lions should move forward with Brown taking up more carries.

It will be interesting to see how Penn State uses its backfield this week. As we know, the circumstances can change each week, depending on the opponent. So far this season, Pittsburgh has done an excellent job of keeping running backs in check, so we’ll see if Penn State can break through and give their rushing defense a hard time on Saturday.
