On Saturday, Penn State football is set to take on the Pittsburgh Panthers at home. Which Nittany Lions are key to a victory?

It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into the third week of the NCAA football season, but here we are. This week’s matchup for Penn State football will be against a highly-anticipated opponent in the Pittsburgh Panthers, for what could be the final meeting in a long time.

Being that Penn State and Pittsburgh are reasonably close to each other, it comes as no surprise that they are rivals. With a long history between the two programs, a lot is riding on this game as Penn State looks to keep a flawless record, while Pittsburgh wants revenge, and craves an upset.

The Panthers will arrive at Beaver Stadium with a record of 1-1. Their first loss came in week one against Virginia. And last week, they managed to defeat Ohio to pick up their first victory. Meanwhile, Penn State remains unbeaten at this point with wins over Idaho and Buffalo.

There were worries last week at first for the Lions. Somehow, Buffalo’s gameplan had Penn State stumped in the first half. Therefore, the Lions trailed at the half. However, it didn’t take long before they created a spark and came away with a dominating victory through four quarters.

This week, Penn State will need to get off to a quicker start on offense. And as for the defense, they need to eliminate the quick-hitting plays and get off the field. It’s going to take a team effort to win as always, but here are the five key players for this week’s matchup.
