Following their Saturday matchup, Pittsburgh football center Jimmy Morrissey shifted focused towards Penn State football.

Those fellas in Pittsburgh must move on quick. After notching their first win of the 2019 college football season, a specific player within the Panthers locker room barley wanted to gloat about the victory over Ohio. Knowing there’s a big-time game ahead for them next week, Panther’s center Jimmy Morrissey is already looking forward to the matchup against Penn State football.

The in-state rivalry is quite significant since both schools are somewhat close to each other. It’s not just about the school’s location though that makes this battle so interesting. Rather, it’s where the players involved come from. Pittsburgh’s Junior center comes from the Philly area.

Being that he’s grown up around Philadelphia, Morrissey is no stranger to hearing about Penn State. Typically, those in the Philly area are cheering for Penn State if they aren’t cheering for Temple. Therefore, Morrissey’s visits home most likely tend to get awkward and annoying.

His friends happen to be Nittany Lions fans, as he stated after the Panthers’ win over Ohio. Therefore, he has had to hear all about Penn State and their success so far this season. Leading up to the Penn State versus Pittsburgh matchup this week, Morrissey seems excited to get it going.

While he claims to have friends in Happy Valley, there are no friendships this week until Saturday’s game concludes. “I don’t like them one bit,” Morrissey claimed as he discussed the Penn State matchup this past weekend. “I mean, I play for Pitt. I’m excited to play them.”

As a walk-on, Morrissey didn’t receive too much interest from schools during his recruiting process. Therefore, Penn State was pretty much out of the question for the Junior center. However, when asked if he would join his hometown friends in Happy Valley if Penn State did extend an offer to him, Morrissey declined.

“I wouldn’t have gone there, anyway, if I had an offer.” The dislike for the Lions is real. And the trash talk is sure to add fuel to the fire and make it an exciting week. At this point, it’s still early, but nobody from Happy Valley has had anything to say about the Panthers quite yet. Soon, we’ll see how Penn State feels heading into that matchup though.
