3. Yetur Gross-Matos collects a pair of sacks

Heading into the new season, we all figured Penn State defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos was going to be a problem for opponents. Against Idaho, he didn’t disappoint. In the first half before getting taken out of the game, Gross-Matos notched nearly three sacks. He had two alone, but the third would only get credited as a half. This week, Gross-Matos will collect two more. Therefore, by week three, he will already have 4.5 total, which is fantastic for PSU.

4. LaMont Wade snags his first pick

Penn State safety LaMont Wade was all the talk from last week as he made his first start. Before the offseason ramped up for the Lions, Wade was ready to get out of Happy Valley. Fortunately, Penn State’s coaching staff was able to change his mind and keep him around. For that, Wade is grateful and playing with a purpose. He’s feeling great, and he’s talking confidently. LaMont Wade is going to be the second defender to snag a pick this year, and it happens against Buffalo.
