Penn State football recruit Theo Johnson will be on campus this week, but not as a Nittany Lions recruit.

As we head into week two of the college football season, the Penn State football program is beginning to schedule some visits with potential recruits as the season unfolds. Earlier in the week, we found out about one of the Nittany Lions’ top recruits for the 2020 class locking down a visit for the week of the white-out game against Michigan.

Four-star Canadian tight end Theo Johnson revealed that he has every intention of making it to Happy Valley in October for Penn State’s battle with Michigan. While he will be there as a Penn State prospect, it’s necessary to note that the Wolverines have their eyes on the tight end as well — and the interest apparently seems mutual.

But we’ll worry about that when the time comes around. This week, there weren’t any significant visits reported, but the Canadian tight end will make somewhat of an unexpected appearance at Beaver Stadium. Since Penn State does take on Buffalo at home on Saturday, Johnson is coming to support the Bulls.

Theo Johnson is no Nittany Lion (not yet, at least). So he has every right to cheer on the other teams if he pleases. Well, Johnson’s brother, Dominic happens to be a quarterback on the Bulls’ roster. Therefore, Theo Johnson and his family will be in Buffalo’s reserved section rooting for his brother.

Regardless of who the recruit is cheering for this week though, it’s still a good sign for the Nittany Lions to have the tight end in attendance. Not only did Johnson mention he would likely ‘pop in to say hi to everyone,’ but he will also get another taste of the Beaver Stadium energy on game day.

Technically, this almost becomes like a second visit to campus this season ahead of the October visit that’s already scheduled. During Johnson’s recruitment, he hasn’t visited another college campus more than he visited Penn State’s. Now, his arrival this week, and in October add two more, which is always a promising sign no matter what.
