Penn State football and most of the Big Ten remain in their initial spots on the NCAA Coaches Poll after week one.

Week one is officially in the books for college football. Per usual, the NCAA season kicked off with a large number of blowouts across the board by nationally-ranked teams. Penn State football is included in that fact as they advance to 1-0 on the year.

As expected, the Nittany Lions dominated their visiting opponent this past Saturday with a 72-point margin at home. It was a good stepping stone for Penn State, who had tons of question marks answered on the offensive side of the ball.

However, now they have to focus on some tougher opponents moving forward. As we know, Idaho wasn’t expected to cause many issues for the Lions as the game pretty much played out as a preseason matchup with starters getting pulled by the third quarter.

Since the strength of opponent didn’t really impose a threat on the schedule, Penn State didn’t get too many props for their blowout. On the AP Poll, they remain set at 15th for their week two matchup where they will host the Buffalo Bulls.

As for the NCAA Coaches Poll, the Nittany Lions might have a better spot on the chart, but still no change. In the preseason poll, Penn State placed at No. 14, and remain unchanged at least for another week. As for the rest of the Big Ten teams listed, most remain in the same boat.

Ahead of Penn State are the usual suspects, Michigan, and Ohio State. No. 7 Michigan grabbed a win against Middle Tennessee, with a convincing score of 40-21. No. 5 Ohio State upped the ante on Florida Atlantic with a nice victory of 45-21.

Behind Penn State on the poll, there was some Big Ten movement. Wisconsin managed to move up a spot to No. 16 after a 49-0 shutout against USF. Iowa and Michigan State won their respective matchups, but stand pat at No. 19 and No. 21. Then lastly, Nebraska just peeked their way into the Top-25 after not being ranked initially.
