No. 18 Michigan State – October 26th, 2019

The Michigan State Spartans matchup will mark the third consecutive Penn State opponent to head into the new season with a Top-25 ranking slapped next to their name. As we’ve mentioned before, once Penn State’s first month of football wraps up, it doesn’t get any easier.

While there are some tough opponents beyond the October slate, this three-game schedule will surely be the part of the season where the Lions can make or break their 2019 progress. Iowa might rank behind them, while Michigan ranks in front of them — but Michigan State as of right now is right on par with the Lions.

The battle of the Land Grant Trophy will continue late in October next season as the Lions try to snatch it back after losing to the Spartans in back to back seasons. Although the matchups were close, the Lions couldn’t come out on top with the victory. If they wrap up the first two games of this three-game stretch with a win, they will have tons of momentum to take down MSU.
