Penn State football: Ja’Juan Seider’s persistence could land Caziah Holmes
Penn State football four-star prospect Caziah Holmes has been in touch with Ja’Juan Seider throughout the entire recruiting process.
A long and drawn out recruiting process could end this Friday as Florida-based running back, Caziah Holmes is set to announce his commitment plans. For about a month now, the All-Purpose back had plans to tell the NCAA world where he would be attending in the fall of 2020.
On Friday, August 9th, at 6 PM, Holmes is scheduled to make his decision. Unlike a Penn State football target from earlier in the week, the Cocoa, Florida running back is ready and has his mind made up. During a discussion with Lions 247’s Tyler Donohue, Holmes revealed he actually made his decision a week ago after much thought and prayer.
So as expected, the announcement will go as planned. The Nittany Lions could be hopeful that Holmes will pick them — but you can never be so sure. Fortunately, Penn State isn’t the only ones who think they have the best chance of landing the four-star prospect.
Out of eleven insiders on 247 Sports, Penn State has been chosen one-hundred percent of the time. That includes selections from non-Penn State writers such as Damn Sayles, Demetric Warren, John Garcia, Steve Wiltfong and more. Also, that includes three Florida insiders.
For those who have been keeping up with Holmes’ recruitment, it doesn’t come as a surprise that he’s viewed as a heavy favorite for the Nittany Lions. After his official visit back in June, Holmes put out a top seven, which Penn State appeared on along with Florida State, Kentucky, Miami, and others. As we know, even the Florida University’s writers believe Holmes is headed to Happy Valley.
Are there any more signs?
"“Me and Coach Seider talk all the time,” Holmes said. “He is the realest coach I’ve talked to and a down to earth coach that cares about his players.”"
Penn State running back’s coach Ja’Juan Seider has played a major part in the Nittany Lions recruiting out of Florida over the last two years. This time, he’s working on landing the four-star back by using his persistence and keeping it real. A steady line of communication has kept Holmes updated on what’s going on with the organization.
Since player and coaches relationships are so vital in football, it’s absolutely a positive sign that Holmes built up a solid connection with the Lions’ coach. Also, it’s a major plus that Holmes mentioned Saquon Barkley as his favorite running back.
After Barkley caught his eye a few years ago, Holmes paid attention to the way that Penn State used him and quickly became intrigued. “I know I can come in and do the same thing if I just stay focused and work hard,” Holmes mentioned to Donohue during their discussion.
Will Holmes become one of the next big running backs to enter Happy Valley and put on a show? We’ll have to wait and see. But considering Seider’s persistence has seemed to have played a major part, it sure feels like there’s a good chance the Lions will land this one.
