Penn State football could be looking forward to a few commitments this month as three of their prospects plan to make their picks in August.

The NCAA’s next dead period has set in as the Penn State football program returns to camp this month. However, just because the weekly recruiting events are over, doesn’t mean that coaches cannot receive a verbal commitment from their prospects in August.

As a matter of fact, multiple Penn State prospects intend on offering their verbal commitments this month as the fall approaches. Recently, Penn State has gained some, and lost one — but now they are looking towards the future in hopes that they land a few significant prospects soon.

On Wednesday, the Lions landed their 21st prospect for the 2020 class in Canadian wide receiver, Malick Meiga. The tall speedster is a three-star prospect who had interest from schools such as Cincinnati, Baylor, and Buffalo. Meiga’s commitment didn’t offer the Lions a jump in their recruiting rankings, but a few more commitments could put them in excellent shape moving forward.

Who plans to make a decision soon?

Zuriah Fisher, DE

Pennsylvania-based defensive end/outside linebacker Zuriah Fisher is a three-star prospect out of Aliquippa High School. He’s currently sitting on 23 offers with a keen interest in Michigan State and the Nittany Lions. In June, Fisher took on his only official visit to the Spartans’ campus.

However, he’s spent the most time in Happy Valley, as he appeared on campus on three different occasions. Rivals’ Future Cast predicts the Lions to land the three-star prospect, but 247 Sports’ National Recruiting Analyst Brian Dohn predicted Pittsburgh back in March. On Monday, August 5th, Fisher plans to announce his commitment.

Caziah Holmes, RB

Here’s a prospect that many Lions fans are familiar with, and likely very excited about. Caziah Holmes is a four-star running back out of Cocoa, Florida. He’s ranked just outside of the Top-200 nationally but is the sixth-best all-purpose running back in the country, according to 247 Sports composite rankings.

In addition to the Nittany Lions, Holmes currently has his eyes set on Kentucky, Ohio State, Florida State, and Tennessee. Eight out of nine insiders predicted that the Lions would land Holmes over the last two months, putting them at an 89-percent chance to land with PSU. The other prediction went to Florida State, which comes off as outdated considering it was submitted back in April. Holmes has his announcement date set for August 9th.

Ibrahim Traore, OT

Ibrahim Traore is the most recent prospect to pop up on the Lions radar. Just this past weekend, Traore was in Happy Valley for PSU’s final recruiting event. After spending some time with head coach James Franklin, Traore left the campus with some very positive thoughts. Now, the six-foot-five-inch lineman out of New York is being linked to the Lions. With five predictions in 247 Sports crystal ball, the picks regarding Traore fall in favor of Penn State by one-hundred percent. He will make his decision on August 30th.
