Penn State football favored to land 3-star OT Ibrahim Traore
3-star New York-based offensive tackle Ibrahim Traore recently wrapped up a successful weekend at Penn State football’s Lasch Bash.
The final recruiting event of Penn State football’s offseason is in the books. As Lasch Bash wrapped up this past weekend, the team is now setting their focus on the 2019 NCAA season. This week, on August 1st, the Nittany Lions are set to take the field for training camp.
However, just because the weekly recruiting events are over, doesn’t mean the process stops. Before the NCAA dead period approached, the Lions were on a roll with events almost every weekend. As they hosted a ton of prospects, they hit quite a few bumps in the road.
During June, Penn State saw a dramatic decrease in rankings for their 2020 recruiting class, dropping as far down as 29, according to 247 Sports. But then a sudden wave of commitments came in later on in the month of June, causing the Lions to squeak their way into the top ten.
Once the dead period really kicked off though, the 2020 recruiting cycle seemingly dried up for the Lions. And as other schools landed their fair share of verbal commitments, the Lions fell back in the rankings a bit once again. As of now, they are sitting at 14th in the nation, third in the Big Ten.
When can we potentially expect a new commitment for the Lions? Perhaps, quite soon. After the Lasch Bash this past weekend, the Lions are feeling confident with where they currently stand. And according to Fight on State’s Sean Fitz, there’s a decent chance the Lions could come away with a New York-based three-star offensive tackle sooner than later.
The latest on Ibrahim Traore:
"“Intel suggests that the Nittany Lions vaulted to the top of his list as he has always wanted to play in the Big Ten. Indiana, Minnesota, Purdue and Rutgers were his previous options in the conference, joining Miami, Ole Miss, Tennessee and West Virginia on his offer sheet.”"
The six-foot-five-inch, 295-pound tackle out of New York, New York is in search of landing with a team within the Big Ten. With offers from Indiana, Minnesota, Purdue, Rutgers, and Penn State, Traore will have no problem landing in his desired conference. As of right now though, Penn State is viewed as a consensus favorite school to pick up Traore from not only 247, but from Rivals as well.
