Penn State football 4-Star prospect Kourt Williams makes decision
Penn State football has been on four-star linebacker Kourt Williams’ radar, but his final decision isn’t in favor of the Lions.
July is winding down, and the NCAA football season is vastly approaching. This past weekend, Penn State football and the rest of the Big Ten opened and closed their media days in Chicago. Now they are set focusing on the 2019 NCAA season. Soon, the Nittany Lions will all be in Happy Valley gearing up for the season. Right now, though, the focus remains on recruiting.
For the last month or so, the college football dead period kicked in. After a disastrous start to the summer for PSU and the 2020 recruiting class, the slow period of the offseason treated the Lions well. They ended up finishing the month of June off strong and got an eventful start to July. After a while, though, the recruiting cycle dried up.
Now, it’s been weeks since James Franklin and company received any verbal commitments. However, they have been waiting for a word from one of their highly-touted four-star prospects. Kourt Williams, St. John Bosco’s linebacker is a nationally ranked Top-200 prospect out of California. He had about 23 offers on the table.
A few weeks back, he decided to eliminate most of them, leaving a top-five available on Twitter. Penn State happened to make the cut. With plans to announce to his commitment on July 24th set in, Williams stuck to his word. And on Wednesday evening, the future star released a video, where he made the official announcement of where he intended on enrolling for the 2020 season.

Penn State was in the race for Williams’ verbal commitment, but in the end, they didn’t land his word. Instead, the Nittany Lions will have to face Williams in the future as his video revealed he will be joining the Ohio State Buckeyes come summertime of 2020. Since April, Williams began to take on some official visits to the teams that he was most interested in, starting with Texas A&M.
Earlier last month, he appeared in Happy Valley for an official visit. While everything seemed to go pretty smooth between Williams and Penn State’s organization, nobody believed he was headed elsewhere once he wrapped up his stay in Ohio. After Williams met with the Buckeyes for his official visits, most of the predictions from 247 Sports were in favor of OSU landing Williams. On Wednesday, he makes his commitment official.
