Three-star defensive end Latarie Kinsler recently released his final six school selections. Penn State football makes the cut.

Earlier this month, the Penn State football program kicked off with a handful of quick-hitting news. After struggling to obtain recruits throughout June, the Nittany Lions were pleased to receive more than a few commitments to allow them to climb the national rankings for their 2020 recruiting class. At this point, the Lions have 20 commits and rank 12th in the nation.

The dead period has been in full effect though as of late. Not much has been going on around the NCAA. Therefore, the Lions haven’t been as fortunate in landing prospects throughout the middle of the month. Soon though, that could change.

As summer begins to wind down soon, more prospects are wrapping up their summers and attempting to make a decision on their future before heading into training camp for their senior seasons. While some players like to just go ahead and make their decision when they are ready, others want to keep it suspenseful and also buy themselves more time.

Therefore, a list of finalists get released before anything. Sometimes players release a top seven. Other times it might be a top-five, four, or even three. In this case, we’re looking at a top-six from Pahokee, Florida defensive end, Latarie Kinsler. On Sunday night, Kinsler took to Twitter to announce his finalists, and the Nittany Lions have made the cut.

Virginia, Oregon, Tennessee, Syracuse, South Carolina, and Penn State are all on the radar for the three-star defensive end’s commitment. Kinsler is a six-foot-two-inch, 204-pound weakside defensive end. He’s currently ranked 14th at his position, and 60th in the state of Florida. While PSU has done a solid job getting on the map with a handful of Florida-based prospects, they haven’t been very successful in landing them so far.

According to 247 Sports’ Crystal Ball projections, Syracuse is the favorite with a 67-percent chance of landing Kinsler. The other 33-percent chance lands on undecided. So far, Kinsler hasn’t taken on any official visits, so he could be waiting until the fall before he makes his final decision.

If he happens to make his way up to Happy Valley in 2020, Kinsler would be the fourth defensive end to commit for the class. However, the Lions did recently land a commitment from another weakside defensive end in Bryce Mostella, which could affect Kinsler’s decision in the long run.
