Reading, Pennsylvania running back Nick Singleton received an offer from Penn State football this week to join the 2022 recruiting class.

The Penn State football recruiting process got a bit more interesting on Wednesday. Not only did they land their third commitment in a matter of 24 hours for the 2020 class — but they also extended an offer to an in-state running back for the 2022 class.

Reading, Pennsylvania running back Nick Singleton may only be a Sophomore in high school, but his talents have already put him on the map, receiving offers from some of the top schools in the nation. So far, he’s been shown interest by a handful of major schools. Two of which, come from the Big Ten.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are one Big Ten team to show some interest in Singleton so far, and Penn State followed suit by actually extending an offer. According to 247 Sports, Singleton measures at five-foot-eleven-inches and weighs 195-pounds.

Given that Singleton is only headed into his Sophomore season, he has yet to garner any ranks from recruiting sites — but the local, big-name schools are already becoming familiar with Singleton ahead of his Sophomore campaign at Governor Mifflin.

When Singleton received his offer on Wednesday, he became the fifth running back of the 2022 cycle to receive an offer so far. He will join the likings of Emeka Megwa, Gavin Sawchuk, Jaziun Patterson, and Tevin White. Like most prospects, Singleton stood out to the Nittany Lions during a camp, which was held in Happy Valley a few weeks back.

On the field last season, Singleton collected 1,274 yards and 16 touchdowns as a Freshman. Since Singleton still has three seasons to play through, he won’t jump to a decision anytime soon. While speaking with PennLive’s Brian Linder, Singleton made it clear that he will take his time making a decision during the process, as he should.

However, it is necessary to note that Singleton already had eyes for the Nittany Lions before he received his offer. Since Penn State is technically considered a local school to him, Singleton likes the idea of potentially joining the Lions.
