Penn State football received a commitment from another prospect. This time, it was a three-star athlete, Tyler Warren.

Time keeps going, and recruits keep on rolling in. Just this past Tuesday, Penn State football landed not one, but two commits to kick off July. First, it was a three-star wide receiver, Parker Washington. Then roughly about an hour later, the Nittany Lions picked up a verbal commitment from three-star cornerback, Joseph Johnson, who previously committed to N.C. State.

Yet, another player who was previously committed to another team decided to join forces with the Nittany Lions after re-opening his commitment. Back in August of 2018, three-star quarterback, Tyler Warren agreed to commit to Virginia Tech as a dual-threat quarterback.

Now, it seems as though Warren has a change of heart not only towards the school he initially selected but also for the position that he chose to play in High School. Warren will continue to play under center for Atlee High School in Mechanicsville, Virginia and planned to stay at the position with the Hokies. Nowadays though, Warren has the itch to play tight end.

So as Warren did commit to Penn State on Wednesday, it has become public knowledge that he will, in fact, play tight end at the next level. In case you were wondering — yes, Warren does have a good size for a tight end. He stands tall at six-foot-five-inches, weighing in at 223-pounds.

The Nittany Lions current starting tight end Pat Freiermuth measures the same, for reference. Although Freiermuth is about 40 pounds heavier right now, Warren will most likely get started on bulking up his size as soon as his Senior season concludes this upcoming fall.

Warren becomes the first prospect of the 2020 recruiting class to play tight end, and he might not be the last when it’s all said and done. For the 2020 class, the Nittany Lions have extended 14 offers. Eight of which have already made commitments. Currently, there are two tight ends which the Nittany Lions have a keen interest in. One is a three-star prospect in Kole Taylor. The other is a four-star prospect in Theo Johnson.
