It’s going to be a while before Anton Harrison makes his commitment. But he wasted no time narrowing down his top five schools.

Will Penn State Football’s 2020 recruiting class shoot up further in the rankings this offseason? It’s very much possible. Late last week, they peaked in the rankings as 247 Sports rated their 2020 recruiting class as the tenth-best class. Unfortunately, other commitments around the NCAA forced the Nittany Lions back a spot. But that could change quickly, as we know.

Just this past Friday, Penn State added two more recruits to the class, wrapping up a highly successful week. Landing eight commitments in a week was a refreshing turn of events after the rough month that the Lions had. So far, they haven’t landed any commitments in July, but Penn State did end up making the cut for a few notable prospects.

First, it started with the four-star running back out of Florida, Caziah Holmes. He listed the Nittany Lions within his handful of top choices and even had his crystal ball prediction in favor of Penn State, according to the experts at 247 Sports. We also learned another four-star prospect in Kourt Williams kept Penn State as a top choice as well. While the experts like another schools’ chance of landing the linebacker, Penn State still remains in the race.

Now, we can add another prospect into the mix. This time, it’s a four-star offensive tackle out of Washington, D.C., Anton Harrison. He’s a six-foot-five-inch beast weighing in at 329-pounds. Ranked as the fourth-best player to come out of the D.C. area, Harrison is also recognized as the 181st ranked player in the nation. And on Tuesday, Harrison decided to trim down his 22 offers to a top five. Maryland, Oklahoma, Michigan, Texas A&M, and Penn State all made the cut.

Although Harrison made his cuts on Tuesday, we shouldn’t expect a verbal commitment for quite some time now. Unlike most prospects, Harrison is going to take his time. And instead of committing this summer, he’s going to let his senior season at Archbishop Carroll play out. Then, he will make the decision at the 2020 Under Armour All-American Game, which is set to take place in January of next year.

According to PennLive’s Greg Pickel, Harrison is a frequent contact of interest for the Nittany Lions. Although they haven’t had him on campus for an official visit, he’s still showed face before and remains in contact with the University. The chances of Harrison landing in Happy Valley got better as two 2020 offensive line commitments backed out, but there’s still a long way to go.
