Four-Star LB Kourt Williams lists Penn State football in his top five
Penn State football’s 2020 recruiting class could see another significant increase in ranking with a commitment from four-star linebacker, Kourt Williams.
The Penn State football program has had quite the makeover over the last week or so. They started off June by hitting a rough patch with their 2020 recruiting class, but they finished the month off strong by climbing back up the ranks.
It all started with four de-commitments in a span of a couple of weeks. Two players flipped their recruitments and found a new home. The other two just simply backed away from Penn State and re-opened their recruitment.
For a moment, the Nittany Lions were doomed. Fortunately, there’s still plenty of time left in the recruitment process. And it didn’t take long for the Lions to claw their way back into top recruiting relevancy. In fact, Penn State has peaked this offseason. Just a season after having the 13th best-recruiting class, according to 247 Sports — the Nittany Lions are now ranked 10th for 2020.
And it won’t just stop there either. There are still plenty of names that Penn State has left on their list, and some notable ones happen to be four-star prospects. Earlier on Monday, we highlighted the potential of Penn State landing four-star Florida-based running back, Caziah Holmes. Now, Penn State also has the potential of landing four-star linebacker, Kourt Williams.

On Friday, Williams took to Twitter to announce his top five. “It’s been a rollercoaster journey…but we’re just getting started,” Williams sent out on Twitter along with a picture of him donning each uniform of his top five selections. Ohio State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas A&M and of course, Penn State were pictured for Williams’ announcement.
This summer, Williams wasted no time getting in his official visits. Dating back to as early as April, he began his recruiting journey by checking out A&M. Since then, he visited all five schools that he listed as his top choices, including the Nittany Lions, which he visited in early June.
Williams would be a massive addition to the Penn State defense in 2020. Unfortunately, recruiting services see it as a long shot that Williams lands at Penn State. Currently, he’s favored to join the Buckeyes in Ohio State according to 247 Sports’ crystal ball prediction by 71-percent. The other 29-percent counted for UCLA, which is officially cut out of the race. However, it isn’t over until it’s officially over. And right now, the Nittany Lions are still relevant at this point.
