The Penn State football 2020 recruiting class has been back on a roll lately, and the outcome could be even better soon.

After an atrocious start to the month of June, the Penn State football program is climbing their way back up in the 2020 recruiting ranks. Around this time last week, Penn State was close to falling outside of the top 30, just one season removed from being ranked 13th. But after six commitments in a matter of seven days, the Nittany Lions are clawing their way back into recruiting relevancy within the top tiers of the NCAA.

Thanks to a very crucial commitment on Thursday, the Nittany Lions are gaining some substantial confidence back. As they made the top list of schools for four-star athlete Enzo Jennings, Penn State was excited to potentially hear that they are going to have him on the roster for next year’s campaign. As a recruit who has had eyes on him since he was in the eighth grade, Jennings was expected to join the best of the best.

Unfortunately for Penn State, Jennings’ home state has had a much better recruiting season for 2020, which indicated that the four-star athlete could just stay home and join the Wolverines. But Jennings wouldn’t close anybody off — especially not Penn State.

So after an official visit, which occurred last week, Jennings decided not to hold off his decision any longer. He took to Twitter earlier in the week to tease the announcement as he labeled his top teams. Penn State just so happened to be pictured within Jennings’ tweet.

And in a matter of one day, Jennings took to Twitter to announce that he will, in fact, be joining the Penn State football program for the 2020 season, landing them their most significant recruit to date. Now, Jennings brings a ton of upside to the Nittany Lions secondary alone, but another four-star defensive back is beginning to warm up to Penn State as well.

All eyes on Makari Paige?

Enzo Jennings is locked in. Now, Penn State is focused on trying to land another Michigan product in Makari Paige. The 19th ranked safety in the country is listed just two spots behind Jennings in the state of Michigan. And just like Jennings, Paige has eyes for Penn State and has had his fair share of visits to Happy Valley over time.

It all started in July of 2018 when Paige arrived on Penn State’s campus for an unofficial visit. Since then, he’s been to Happy Valley for a total of four times. His official visit occurred a couple of weeks back as Penn State hosted a camp. With 31 offers out there for Paige’s commitment, he’s already narrowed down the pack to seven teams.

Notre Dame, Kentucky, Purdue, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State all made the final seven earlier in the month. And since then, he’s officially visited three of the seven listed schools, which included Penn State, Ohio State, and Kentucky. At this point, it seems as though the experts have narrowed down their predictions to four schools.

According to 247 Sports, Paige is likely to land either with Ohio State, Kentucky, Michigan, or Penn State. While the addition of Enzo Jennings was huge for the Nittany Lions, landing another top Michigan prospect, who happens to be ranked within the Top-300 nationally would be another huge get for Penn State.

So far, everything is moving in a positive direction, but unlike Jennings, Paige is going to take his time deciding. But it won’t take too long. According to Allen Trieu, Paige plans to make his final decision before the fall. Hopefully, his four visits to PSU were enough to convince him to follow the footsteps of Jennings and beef up the Nittany Lions secondary for 2020 and beyond.
