Penn State Basketball: Josh Reaves NBA Draft Profile
By Dylan Burd
Penn State basketball guard Josh Reaves is looking to be the third Penn State player selected in the NBA Draft in the last 20 years.
Josh Reaves is one of the most unique basketball players you’ll see on the court. His path during the pre-draft process? Just as unique. Why should it be any different?
Unlike many of the NBA Draft’s top-prospects, Reaves wasn’t invited to the NBA Combine, where 66 players accepted the invitation to compete against each other in basketball-related drills, strength/agility drills, and scrimmages.
The next best 40 prospects not invited to the NBA Combine were invited to the G-League Elite Camp, where they competed against each other and 40 G-League players. The best 11 NBA Draft prospects of the 40 at this camp received late-invites to the NBA Combine. Josh Reaves wasn’t even invited to participate in this camp either.
However, Reaves did participate in the Pourtsmouth Invitational Tournament that features some of the top seniors in college basketball. He was part of the All-Tournament team while doing so.
Despite Reaves receiving no recognition from the NBA Combine and G-League Elite Camp, he is still highly regarded by several major NBA Draft media outlets. Here is where Reaves ranks on some different big boards going into Thursday’s draft.
- ESPN: 78th
- The Athletic: 86th
- NBADraft.net: Unranked
- Tankathon: 53rd

In addition, Reaves has also worked out for several NBA teams, including the Celtics, Heat, Cavaliers. Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Suns, Kings, Nuggets, Mavericks, Hornets, and more.
