The Penn State Football 2020 recruiting class is on the hunt for a running back and four-star recruit Daniyel Ngata has the Lions as a top choice.

The hunt for the next big-named running back for the Penn State football program continues as they have yet to find a 2020 commit at the position. Recently, they have hosted some big names, and have been added to some top-seven lists. And once again, the Lions land on a list of potential targets for one of the top all-purpose running backs in the nation, Daniyel Ngata.

Ngata, who is a five-foot-nine-inch, 180-pound back out of Folsom, California recently narrowed down his top selections on his quest to finding a new team for the future. The list included Arizona State, Clemson, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Texas A&M, Utah, and Penn State. Nationally, Ngata comes within the Top-50 for all players. Positionally, Ngata is recognized as the second-best all-purpose running back in his class, according to 24/7 Sports.

As Ngata heads into his final season out West, he anticipates taking his time on deciding where he will play next season. Unlike a handful of recruits, Ngata plans to wait until after the summer to make his decision. There haven’t been any reported visits for the Senior running back, but he’s not precisely in a rush to make his decision.

According to Brandon Huffman, Ngata plans to wait until at least halfway through the 2019 season to decide as he wants to wait until the fall to take most of his visits. By the sound of it, he might just be heading to Texas A&M first, but that won’t rule out the rest as he’s likely waiting to get to a game for most teams this year. And Penn State should be anticipating a visit this fall.

Will the Lions be able to land the all-purpose back? It sure sounds like it’s a strong possibility. Though he dubbed Clemson as one of his favorite schools and mentioned that he liked the fact that he would start early for Arizona State, Ngata is still quite interested in Penn State’s offense. “Penn State has a great coach and a great offense. I love their offense and the way they use their running backs,” Ngata stated regarding his decision to list PSU as a finalist for his decision.
