Penn State Football: Four-Star commit Grant Toutant Re-Routes to Ohio State
Penn State Football’s 2020 four-star commit, Grant Toutant has had a sudden change of heart and decided to re-route the future of his football career.
This past fall, the Penn State Nittany Lions landed a commitment from a solid prospect coming out of Michigan. The class of 2020 offensive lineman, Grant Toutant, made it official by committing to Penn State University as he became the first recruit of the group. Unfortunately, another Big Ten team made quite the impression on the young lineman as he had a sudden change of heart.
Late on Sunday night, Penn State got the sudden news that Toutant will not be attending Happy Valley after all. Instead, Toutant has decided to discard his commitment to Penn State, and re-commit to Ohio State to play with the Buckeyes.
Although he made his commitment with the Lions back in November, he received an offer from Ohio State in January, which changed everything. And after multiple visits and staying in touch with the Buckeyes, it seems they have made a memorable impression as Toutant made his sudden switch. Although the Lions still have a stable situation on the offensive line, losing a four-star commit, who’s ranked 27th in the nation at offensive tackle is a tough pill to swallow.
Toutant announces his decision via Twitter
“As I look back on my recruitment journey, I know it has developed me into a completely different person and athlete I was a year ago,” Toutant wrote in a detailed statement on social media. “In life, as in football, you learn, grow, and change from experiences and opportunities, which impacts the outcome of the game.” Toutant then followed his statement by thanking each Penn State coach on the offense individually, and the staff as a whole before dropping the big news.
“I have made the decision to formally announce my decommitment from Penn State University to pursue an opportunity that is best fit for me and my future. With much thought and prayer, I would like to announce my decision to pursue an academic and athletic career at THE Ohio State University!” And just like that, the Lions lose one of their top commits.
