This weekend, former Penn State Football running back Saquon Barkley attended and hosted a Q&A session at Hersheypark.

Former Penn State Nittany Lions’ running back Saquon Barkley could never forget where he came from. Sure, he might’ve been born in New York, where he currently resides while playing the New York Giants, but most of his football days have been spent in the state of Pennsylvania. As he went to Whitehall High School in Pennsylvania, Barkley made a name for himself as a four-star running back, who eventually committed to Penn State in 2015.

By now, I’m sure you all know how Barkley’s college career went. As a Freshman, he impressed the NCAA by taking on 182 carries for 1,076 and seven touchdowns. He also caught 20 passes for 161 yards and a score. With all eyes on him in the Big Ten Conference for his next coming years, Barkley stuck around until his Junior season and took over the college world by storm.

At the end of his college career, he would finish with 671 carries, 3,843 yards, and 43 touchdowns. In the passing game, he finished with 1,195 yards and eight touchdowns. His impressive three-year stint in Happy Valley led him to be the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft to the New York Giants. Now, Barkley is arguably the most popular NFL player in the Big Apple.

However, he hasn’t forgotten about his fans from Penn State. This past weekend, Barkley made an appearance at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania to host a Q&A session where he told his story to inspire others. Plus, he also revealed some really cool news as well.

At Hersheypark’s Music Box Theater, Barkley sat on a stage in front of many fans to discuss his upbringing with football in an attempt to motivate those watching. Being that Barkley has been a major role model since his emergence in football nationally, it comes as no surprise that he wanted to do everything that he can to motivate those young kids watching him.

Plus, Barkley paraded around the park in a convertible before the session so he could take pictures with his fans and get around with his family. The moment was special for many, but perhaps the biggest takeaway from the entire day was the fact that Barkley mentioned he plans to walk for graduation. Being that Barkley finished up his school career early so he could move onto the NFL, the former Nittany Lions’ running back hasn’t had the chance to throw on the cap and gound. But on Saturday, he mentioned he has every intention of doing so at some point soon.
