Offensive Line

The offensive line arguably played its worst game of the season in the Citrus Bowl, as they got absolutely abused by the Kentucky defense. Not only was Penn State unable to run the ball, but the offensive line couldn’t keep pressure off of Trace McSorley.

Penn State had 161 rushing yards, but they ran the ball 41 times, meaning they were only averaging 3.9 yards per carry.  Furthermore, Kentucky had nine tackles for loss in this game, including six sacks. They also had four QB hurries.

Following the game, offensive linemen Connor McGovern and Ryan Bates declared early for the NFL Draft. Penn State will have a lot of work to do to replace them, as McGovern and Bates were the two best offensive linemen on the team.

Grade: D+
