Penn State Football: Shareef Miller declares for NFL Draft
Penn State has lost an important piece of its defensive line
Defensive end Shareef Miller has decided to end his time at Penn State and make himself eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft. Miller still had a year of eligibility, but will leave college early in order to prepare for a professional football career.
Miller’s decision to leave Penn State shouldn’t be much of a surprise, as it has been speculated for weeks that the Citrus Bowl would be his last game as a member of the Nittany Lions. He finished this past season with 41 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks. He also added a fumble recovery.
Standing at six-foot-five and weighing 260 punts, Miller already has great size that should put him on the radar of many NFL teams.
Miller came to Penn State as a three-star recruit out of George Washington High School in Philadelphia, PA in the 2015 recruiting class. He was the No. 12 recruit in the state and had offers from Miami, Michigan State, Virginia Tech, Pitt, and Florida, among others.
He was given a redshirt his first season, but began making an impact right away in 2016 as a redshirt freshman. He started every game during the 2017 and 2018 seasons at defensive end and became an important mainstay for the Nittany Lions.
Over his career at Penn State he recorded 100 total tackles.
Miller will certainly be missed in Happy Valley, but he appears to have a bright future at the next level. VBR wishes Shareef all the best in his professional endeavors!
