Coaching

When a team with the talent of Penn State’s only wins 20-7 versus Rutgers in a game that should have been a lot closer than it was, you have to question the team’s preparation. In my opinion, there weren’t any in-game coaching blunders, but how can you come out so flat that you only beat Rutgers by 13?

Rutgers has one win this year, and lost to Kansas 55-14, Buffalo 42-13, and Illinois 38-17. How did Penn State only put up 20 points in this game? It just doesn’t make any sense to me. It seems as if Penn State played as if the game was going to be a definite blowout. That’s the exact reason why it was only a 13-point game.

Any other team on Penn State’s schedule aside from maybe Kent State would have beat them had they played like this on those weeks. In order to beat Maryland at home next week, Penn State is going to need to be prepared. They need to play their brand of football, and not down to the level of their opponent.

With Senior Day at Beaver Stadium, and a potential New Years’ Six Bowl appearance on the line, you would think Penn State will come out firing on all cylinders next Saturday.
