Penn State football recruiting continues to be strong.

As expected, Penn State traveled to Piscataway, NJ and took care of business against Rutgers. New Jersey is an important state and one in which the Nittany Lions have been successful at recruiting in over the last few years.

Let’s take a look at the current status of Penn State football recruiting following the win:

Five-star linebacker Brandon Smith played in his last high school game

Smith will be an early enrollee at PSU. If you’re interested in watching him play one more time before he transitions to the college game, watch the Under Armour All-America Game, January 3, on ESPN 2.

Four-star dual-threat QB Taquan Roberson closed out his career at DePaul Catholic

Roberson is one of two NJ commits in the Class of 2019 (four-star OG Caedan Wallace is the other). Saturday’s game proved to be important in the battle ground state of New Jersey. Penn State football recruiting has had a rich history of grabbing players from the Garden State. Hot prospects include Class of 2020, four-star RB Jalen Berger (Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey, NJ).

Three Nittany Lions 2019 Commits land in 247Sports Top 50

Brandon Smith, Caedan Wallace and Lance Dixon landed on 247Sports.com’s Top 50 list. Smith’s skill set is exactly what you’d want from a starting inside linebacker: instinctual, athletic, great awareness and size. Wallace is an athletic guard, with ideal size and strength. Dixon will complement Smith’s skill set, as a quick, aggressive outside linebacker. His six-foot-two, 201-pound frame has the potential to fill out.

Penn State Football recruiting target and IMG Academy Star, Noah Cain, sets commitment date

Four-star running back Noah Cain announced that he’ll be making his decision December 19. The Texas native visited Beaver Stadium for the Wisconsin game.

Pennsylvania native makes freak play, and moves up in the in-state rankings

Four-star wide receiver Keaton Ellis channeled his inner Odell Beckham Jr. on this snag. All signs are pointing to Ellis possibly lining up at corner for PSU, given his freakish athletic ability. Don’t be surprised if he’s a two-way player in the right situation. Ellis is a State College native, and currently is rated as the third best player in the Keystone State.
